Social Distancing & Salon Shutdown

Hi, Beauties!! Adding a blog to my website is something I've had on my mental to-do list since I first created it a few years ago & I just never got around to it.

Well, now that us "non-essential" workers have plenty of time on our hands, I've decided to stop making excuses & make it happen! As much as I would love to be a couch potato all day, watching Netflix, & eating all our quarantine snacks, I am pushing myself to use this time wisely & tackle some of these tasks that I've put off for so long.

What a FREAKIN' time we are living in! I'm still finding this whole COVID-19 situation to be SO surreal...I keep asking myself, "is this REALLY happening?!" I'm pretty sure all of us are still trying to grasp the reality of this.

I think last Thursday evening, the 23rd of March, will forever be etched in my memory-

sitting at a family member's home as Governor Newsom came across the TV screen & officially made the declaration that all non-essential businesses are to be closed by midnight for the foreseeable future. It felt like I got punched in the gut & my breath stilled. Sending that text to my co-workers at the salon was the hardest thing ever. We were all in an absolute state of panic. Next, I called my good friend, Rocky, who is also a salon owner. She was just getting in & hadn't yet seen the news. I said, "Rocky, what are we supposed to do?" & I just cried. Being the persistently positive person that she is, she assured me that everything would be okay & that we were in this together. Now was the time for us to show up & be LEADERS for our salons & our co-stylists, so I cried it out a couple more times that evening & I woke up the next day ready to just face this whole temporary-but-new reality.

Although I have given myself plenty of time to be lazy on the couch & binge a couple of Netflix series (while making hourly trips to the fridge & the pantry), I have also pledged to myself that I will also use this time off wisely. I am going to invest time in working on my business from the inside (updating my website, working on my online business building course, re-evaluating my business practices in general), doing some deep-cleaning & re-organizing around my house, finally clean my own personal makeup brushes (I am SO guilty of not doing that nearly as often as I should!), & also some heavy reading!

I think everyone can agree that we are truly experiencing something that is historical & truly life-altering; if we're all taking this seriously (which, you better be!), we are being forced to re-prioritize everything in our lives, from our finances to our health, & to ask ourselves "what REALLY matters in my life?" It surely isn't the number of followers we have on our social media platforms, or driving the newest & most expensive vehicle, or having a Starbucks drink in our hands everyday. Although those things are all nice & fun & I AM a big believer in treating yourself from time to time because let's face it, we all work our butts off-

at the end of the day, what is ESSENTIAL is our health & that of our families, spending QUALITY time with our loved ones, & making sure that we are living a lifestyle that is realistic & sustainable, not one that looks good for social media.

I love you all, I thank you for your support, & I wish you all the absolute best during this crazy time!

P.S. I would love to know how you're all spending your "quarantine" time! Also, any ideas you have for future blog posts would be SO appreciated!!
